How to get the Old C/AL Code Editor

You can use the old version of the C/AL Editor by running the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Development Environment from a command prompt and setting the useoldeditor parameter.

01. Open command prompt
02. Set the path to your RTC folder and type below command

finsql.exe useoldeditor=yes



and there it goes..

  1. Hi Tharanga, we could argue about this as I consider this not a bug as we have intellisense now and no need for the Symbol Menu. If you want the symbol menu use the old editor (of which you already blogged about).

    Hi,
    Yes, as you said we can argue about it. If it is not a bug then this should goes to NAV cleanup list as Symbol Menu still have paste argument option and all (Why have the paste when paste is not working). Saying that I love the new C/AL editor but still would be good to have the complete option of Symbol Menu in it. 🙂
